Acquired in a trade with Calgary for QB Kevin Glenn, OL Mark Dewit and a conditional draft pick on January 3, 2012.

Career

2011: Started 14 of 18 games with Calgary…completed 281 of 442 passes for 3,687 yards and 20 touchdowns…ran for 385 yards and four touchdowns. Playoffs: Dressed in one playoff game…entered the West Semi-Final in relief of Drew Tate…threw for 75 yards and ran for 31 yards.  

2010: Started all 18 games with the Stampeders…completed 370 of 559 pass attempts for 4,945 yards and a league-leading 38 touchdowns… rushed for 491 yards and three touchdowns…completed a 100-yard touchdown pass to Ken-Yon Rambo on October 1 against Montreal…named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player after earning the Stampeders’ nomination for the fourth time…named a West Division All-Star for the third time and a CFLPA All-Star for the second time.  Playoffs: Started one playoff game, throwing for 229 yards and one touchdown.  

2009: Started all 18 games with the Stampeders…completed 339 of 571 passes for 4,831 yards and 22 touchdowns…ran the ball 105 times for 553 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns…set new Stampeders career passing records for attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns. Playoffs: Started two playoff games, throwing for 542 yards and three touchdowns…also rushed for 96 yards.

2008: Started all 18 games with the Stampeders…surpassed the 5,000-yard mark for the first time in his career after completing 381 of 591 pass attempts for 5,094 yards and a career-high 39 touchdowns…carried the ball 87 times for 595 yards and three touchdowns...named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Player after being nominated as Calgary’s MOP…earned a spot on the West Division All-Star team for the second time. Playoffs: Started two playoff games, including Calgary’s Grey Cup win over the Alouettes in Montreal…named the Grey Cup MVP after throwing for 328 yards and one touchdown and carrying the ball nine times for 79 yards.  

2007: Started 14 games with Calgary…completed 285 of 471 pass attempts for 4,279 yards and a  league-leading 34 touchdowns…ran for 623 yards and five touchdowns…missed four games due to injury…named the Stampeders Most Outstanding Player. Playoffs: Started one playoff game, amassing 323 passing yards and two touchdowns…also ran for 22 yards.  

2006: Started all 18 games with the Stampeders…completed 305 of 537 pass attempts for 4,453 yards and a league-leading 23 touchdowns…ran for 480 yards and five touchdowns…named a CFLPA All-Star. Playoffs: Started one playoff game, throwing for 198 yards while running for 37 yards and one touchdown.

2005: Started 15 games in the first season of his second stint with the Calgary Stampeders after signing as a free agent on February 25…completed 265 of 435 pass attempts for 4,290 yards and 23 touchdowns…rushed for 513 yards and nine touchdowns…nominated as Calgary’s Most Outstanding Player…named a West Division All-Star. Playoffs: Started on playoff game, throwing for 242 yards and running for 25 yards and two touchdowns.

2004: Started 16 of the 18 games he suited up for with the Roughriders…completed 322 of 544 pass attempts for 4,267 yards and 23 touchdowns…ran for 464 yards and seven touchdowns. Playoffs: Started two playoff games, throwing for 573 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 48 yards.

2003: Played in 10 games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders…threw for 130 yards and one touchdown …played with NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder…was released by the NFL’s Chicago Bears on July 14. Playoffs: Dressed in two playoff games.

2002: Played in six games with the NFL’s Chicago Bears…started one game.  

2001: Suited up in 10 games with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers after signing as a free agent on February 23.

2000:  Played in all 18 games, starting 16, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after signing as a free agent…completed 308 of 576 passes for 4,647 yards and 30 touchdowns…carried the ball 69 times for 188 yards and eight rushing touchdowns...named the Roughriders Most Outstanding Player award nominee.  

1999: Played in five games with the Stampeders…made two starts…threw for 529 yards and four touchdowns…also ran for 81 yards…finished the season on the injured list after suffering a knee injury...threw the first touchdown pass of his CFL career on July 22 against Edmonton, a 63-yard completion to Allen Pitts.

1998: Played in all 18 games during his second CFL season in Calgary…completed five of 11 pass attempts for 83 yards in limited action…carried the ball twice for four yards…completed his first-career pass on August 13 against Saskatchewan, a 26-yard pass to Andre Adlain.  Playoffs: Dressed in two playoff games, including the Stampeders Grey Cup victory over the Tiger-Cats.  

1997: Played in one game with the Calgary Stampeders after signing as a free agent in May…dressed for one game after spending 10 weeks on the practice roster…did not record a stat.

College

Played four seasons (1993-96) at Temple…threw for 7,495 yards and 49 touchdowns…set nearly every school passing record while also setting new Big East records for completions (558) and attempts (1,136)…earned second-team All-Big East honours.   

Personal

Born May 4, 1975 in Spiro, Oklahoma…Burris and his wife, Nicole, have two sons; Armand and Barron…was awarded the Scot-Mamini Award as Calgary’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2008…has been nominated for the Tom Pate award twice…was selected three times as the Stampeders President’s Ring winner in recognition of his contributions on and off the field.
